Old Saying “Never Meet Your Heroes”

The Old Saying Goes

Ever heard anyone say “never meet your heroes”? Oftentimes many are disappointed when they finally meet someone of significance or importance to them. I’m lucky enough to say I was not even remotely disappointed.

I’d like to consider myself a seasoned MXA reader who is going on 15+ years now.  I was radicalized by Jody as you can tell in my Senior High School paper titled “AMA Kills The Two-Stroke Dirt Bike”. Unfortunately now with age I can think of a few reasons why the thumper is more popular, but my finger will always point at the AMA. Unfortunately my Bachelors revolves around psychology and criminal justice so not much moto application during my college years.

Was it the technical knowledge? Factory bike reviews? Setup tips? Or those little one off details many might miss, but tie in a works bike elegantly? Maybe it’s the same person who brought us into the sport wanted us to do nothing with it as we got older? I’ll never know.

What I do know is my sister in law was kind enough to make a shirt in reference to one of my favorite Jody’s Box and she crushed it. Eight Bam Surf Association is one of the most stand out articles for me. The board Jody is holding was designed by him during his surfing days that is featured in the article and my shirt.

I hope you meet your heroes and I hope they are everything you expected.
